A Celebration of life for Michael J. Lamphere, age 55, will be on Thursday, May 2, from 1 to 3pm at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home, followed by a short prayer service at 3pm. Mike died April 22, in Watertown.

Mike was born June 17, 1957, in Lisbon, Portugal, the son of Donald and Lois Conover Lamphere. He graduated from 1000 Islands High School.

He worked construction for many years and was last employed by Hummel Construction.

Mike enjoyed painting.

Surviving besides his parents are five brothers, Donald and Brian of Florida, Dave of Albany, Bob of Clayton, and Jim of South Carolina; nieces and nephews.

The funeral for Mrs. Thelma M. Dano, age 91, who died Saturday at the SamaritanMedicalCenter, will be 3pm on Thursday April 25, at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home with Reverend Donald Briant officiating. Calling hours will be from 1pm until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Thelma was born on May 24, 1921, in Brownville, the daughter of Winfield and Carrie Weaver Docteur. She was schooled in Chaumont.

On September 1, 1939, she married Ellsworth Dano. Mr. Dano died on May 3, 1981.

She and her husband owned and operated the Redwood Diner and Grocery and also Dano’s Dabbers Painting Company for a time. She also worked for Sunnyside Nursing Home in Syracuse and for the last fifteen years she worked for the Clayton Payntor Senior Citizens Center in the ceramic department retiring in 1997.

Thelma loved to crochet, bingo and playing board games. She especially loved to play poker with her family and winning money from her grandkids.

She will be missed by all and in our hearts forever.

She is survived by one son Billy from Florida; three daughters, Sue (Joe) Shaw of Syracuse, Darleen Barbrow and her companion Art VanTassel of Theresa, and Marla Piper of Jamesville; two daughter in laws, Sandy of Clayton and Addie of Watertown; 21 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; one sister Catherine Walker of Chaumont; one half-sister Georgina Docteur of Maryland; nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Ellsworth, she is predeceased by three sons, James who died on April 6th of 2013, Wayne and Nelson as well as Nelson’s wife Anna, one grandson, Joey Shaw. Six brothers and sisters.

James E. Dano, 72, of Allen Road, died Saturday, April 6, at Rome Memorial Hospital.

Calling hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at T.R. Jetty Funeral Home, Clayton, with the funeral to follow at 4 p.m.

Born July 22, 1940, in Clayton, the son of Ellsworth and Thelma Docteur Dano, he graduated from Cape Vincent High School and Jefferson Community College.

He served in the Air Force from 1959 to 1960.

He married the former Adelaid Kalk on July 22, 1962, at the Clayton Methodist Church.

Jim worked for a time for the United States Army Map Service as a map drawer.

He also volunteered as an ambulance driver and EMT at Dexter Volunteer Fire Department, where he was also a member.

He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and doing crafts.

Surviving besides his wife are five sons, Steven and Ronald, Watertown, Michael (Colleen), Depauville, Edward, Missouri and James (Susan), Middletown; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother Thelma, Clayton; four sisters, Darlene Barbrow, Theresa, Marla Piper, Jamestown, Billie, Florida, and Sue (Joe) Shaw, Syracuse; a sister-in-law, Sandra Dano, Clayton; nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Wayne and Nelson, both died before him.

Donations can be made in his name to the Dexter Volunteer Fire Department.

10/24/2012 – Mary E. Yerdon, LaFargeville

The funeral for Mary E. Yerdon, 74, will be Saturday at 11am at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton with Donna Fitchette officiating. Burial will follow at the Grove Cemetery in LaFargeville. Calling hours will be from 5-8pm Friday at the funeral home.

 Mary was born December 14, 1938 in the Town of Orleans the daughter of Charles and Bertha McKinley Gillette. She attended Evans Mills schools. On May 11th, 1956 she married Wendell J. Yerdon.

 Mary owned and operated Yerdon Greenhouses for many years. She enjoyed going to flea markets, auctions, operating several variety stores, cooking and baking. Her greatest love was for all of her family.

 There will be a reception following the graveside service at the LaFargeville American Legion.

 Surviving besides her husband Wendell is her mother, Bertha of Ogdensburg; four daughters, Sindy (Hal) Matthews of Clayton, Elizabeth (Steve) Rolfe of Clayton, Tina (Colin) Mitchell of Clayton, Virginia (Dave) Sanford of LaFargeville; four sons, Wendell and his companion Gloria Fisher of LaFargeville, Jeffrey (Gloria) of Oswego, Jamie (Wanda) of LaFargeville, William and his companion Sue Herbert of Naples; 23 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

 One brother Harold died in 1969 and six siblings died in infancy.
